Getting 1,000 visitors a month is useless if none of them pick up the phone. A website's only job is to convert attention into action.
Clarity Trumps Cleverness
Don't make visitors think. Your navigation should be dead simple. Your headlines should be direct. If a user is confused for even a second, they will leave.
Social Proof
Humans are tribal; we look to others to see what we should do. Displaying reviews, testimonials, and case studies dramatically reduces the perceived risk of hiring you.
Frictionless Contact
If your contact form has 15 required fields asking for their budget, address, and mother's maiden name, nobody will fill it out. Ask for the minimum amount of information needed to start a conversation: Name, Email, Phone, and a brief message.
Speed
Amazon found that every 100ms of latency cost them 1% in sales. Speed is a feature. If your site is slow, your conversion rate is artificially capped.
